The Tampa Bay Rays acquired Casey Legumina from the Seattle Mariners on Friday in exchange for fellow right-hander Ty Cummings.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rays transferred right-hander Edwin Uceta (right shoulder impingement) to the 60-day injured list.

Legumina, 28, is 0-1 with a 4.63 ERA in eight relief appearances this season with Seattle. He was designated for assignment on Tuesday.

Legumina is 5-7 with a 5.83 ERA in 73 career appearances (one start) with the Cincinnati Reds and Mariners.

Cummings, 24, has a 1.69 ERA without a decision in three relief appearances with Double-A Montgomery of the Southern League.
